Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lois F. Blum Wilson, 89, of Beach Lake died on September 7, 2016 at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital. Her husband, Robert Wilson survives her. Lois was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald C. Blum in 2010. Lois was born in Honesdale on August 17, 1927 the daughter of the late Clarence and Violet Bryant Schweighofer. She graduated from Damascus High School Class of 1945. She was a musician and played the piano, banjo, mandolin and electric Hawaiian guitar and enjoyed participating in Wynona Hagerty's Orchestra in Honesdale. Lois forged many a snow drifts with her trusty Buick and rarely missed a day at Katz Underwear Factory where she was employed many years. As a skillful farmer's wife, Lois grew tomato plants that were taller than she and had to be staked with a fence post and cultivated many colorful flower beds. Lois's love for her Lord could be heard as she sung the hymns at the Smith Hill United Methodist Church where she and Bob were active members. Because of her faith, she was always looking for ways to introduce others to the loving Savior who filled her life with visible peace. Isaiah 26:3 "Thou wilt keep him in perfect PEACE whose mind is stayed on thee". As she looked for ways to help others, it was fitting for her to become a Wayne Memorial Hospital Volunteer. But, her true love was her family – all 4 children and their mates, 12 grandchildren and their mates and 30 great grandchildren. The center of happiness was her family! A perfect weekend would be to entertain her family with food and especial homemade apple pie. She would say to have a perfect pie crust - you have to be gentle with it, pat it, roll it and say a few kind words! Lois is survived by a son, Walter Blum and his wife Bonnie of Calkins; daughters, Larita Smargiassi and her husband Ron of Milford, NJ, Donna Decker and her husband Dave of Girdland, Lorraine Pankratz and her husband Ron of Hershey, PA; grandchildren, Michael, Trinae, Lorie, Jenny, John, Susan, Becky, Julie, Wade, Britt, Corrie and Haley. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Lesson and Roberta Meyers. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Smith Hill United Methodist Church with Pastor Don Olsommer officiating. Friends may visit on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 6:00-8:00 PM at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
