Elizabeth "Betty" James, 85, of Beach Lake, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 in Hospice at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Eaton James in 2006. Born on February 28, 1926 in Tamaqua, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dimetro and Helen Mikovich Barnosky. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Honesdale and formerly served as a deacon. Betty was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and served as Past Matron of Atlas Chapter 99 in Westfield, NJ. An avid artist and painter, she was the former Instructor of Art for the class at the Area Agency on Aging in Honesdale. Elizabeth was the last surviving member of a family of ten children. She is survived by three children: Patricia Ruppert of New Jersey, Diana Bloxham and her husband Edwin of Honesdale, and Brian James of Honesdale; nine grandchildren: Kevin Bloxham, Kenneth Bloxham and his wife Heather, Kurt Bloxham and his wife Erika, Colleen Ruppert, Meghan McGeehan and her husband Marc, Alisha Eggleston and her husband Ben, Corinne James, Jennifer James, and Crystal James-Coburn, and her husband Erick; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a son: Dennis W. James; a granddaughter, Brenda James; five sisters: Mary, Jennie, Anna, Ella, and Martha; and four brothers: John, Steve, Mike, and Teddy. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:15 A.M. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 in the First Presbyterian Church of Honesdale Chapel with Rev. Michael Lyle officiating. Friends may visit at the Presybertian Chapel from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow the service in the Indian Orchard Cemetery.
