Vivian Wildenstein Carey age 83 of Pleasant Mount entered into eternal peace at home, surrounded by family on July 11, 2017. She was the widow of Herbert Carey who died in 2005. They shared 52 years of marriage. Vivian was born December 15, 1933 the daughter of the late Howard and Emma (Bush) Wildenstein. She graduated from Pleasant Mount High School in 1951. She and her husband started their own dairy farm in July of 1961. Vivian also worked at Katz Factory in Honesdale as a floor lady for many years. She was a member of the Pleasant Mount United Methodist Church and served the Lord by playing the organ, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School, Bible School, organizing dinners, and participating in chime choir. Vivian was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group and a volunteer and lifetime member of the Belmont Fire Hall and the Pleasant Mount Emergency Services. She was an EMT on the ambulance, made meals for the fireman, held several offices, organized dinners, and fundraisers. Vivian also volunteered at the Saint James Catholic Church making pierogies. She was also a volunteer for the Fireman's Federation Auxiliary. Vivian will be remembered most for serving the Lord, showing unconditional love to all, always being supportive of her family, baking pies for anyone, making cookies, and the famous fire hall coleslaw. Vivian is survived by her children, Joyce Peak of Lenox, Linda Weber and her husband David of Pleasant Mount, and Ron Carey and his wife Sharon of Pleasant Mount; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; a brother, George Wildenstein and his wife Marge of Pleasant Mount; and several nieces and nephews. Vivian was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Lynn Wildenstein; sisters, Beatrice Andrews, Lillian Hunt, and Ruth Dixon. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 15 at 10:00 A.M. in the Pleasant Mount United Methodist Church, Great Bend Turnpike, Pleasant Mount, PA 18453. All attending are asked to go directly to the church. Friends and family may visit on Friday, July 14 from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Vivian's memory to the Pleasant Mount United Methodist Church or the Pleasant Mount Emergency Services. Interment will be on Saturday in Aldenville Cemetery.
