Donna Rivenburg Smith passed away Monday, November 6, 2017 in the Forest City Nursing Home while in Hospice care. Donna was the first baby born in the new 1951 Wayne Memorial Hospital on October 13, 1951 the daughter of George Rivenburg, Honesdale and the late Alice Rivenburg. Donna graduated from Honesdale High School Class of 1969 and when she was younger she enjoyed working behind the soda fountain at Galinsky's Drug Store making cherry cokes and egg creams. In later years she worked waitressing at Two Guys in Honesdale and the Blooming Onion in Mountainhome. Donna was also a staff member at Mount Airy Lodge and a deli worker in Wal-mart. Donna loved cats especially her cat Twylite. Twylite was her constant companion at Ann's Grove Personal Care Home in Tunkhannock and gave her much comfort. She enjoyed reading books: mystery, science fiction, and fantasy; doing puzzles, helping others in need, and making delicious meatloaf for her family and friends using" her special recipe." She is survived by her father, George Rivenburg of Honesdale; a son, Alan French; her beloved cat, Twylite; a sister, Mary Kipp and her husband Larry of Hawley; a brother, David Rivenburg and his companion Leann Danko; granddaughters, Katie French and Maureen French of Greentown, Pa; two nephews, Jason Kipp and Dustin Rivenburg; a niece Kassandra Rivenburg Shoup. She was preceded in death by her mother, Alice Collins Rivenburg; her sister, Betty Rivenburg Sweeney and a sister in law, Penny Nordenhold Rivenburg. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Bethany United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kenneth Small officiating. Friends may visit the church from 10:00-11:00 AM until the time of the service. Interment will be in the East Dyberry Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bethany United Methodist Church , 3 Court Street Bethany, Pa 18431 or a local animal shelter of the donor's choice. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa 18431
