Obituary of William Spry

William Spry passed away on December 25, 2017 at Julia Ribaudo Extended Care Center, Lake Ariel. He had been married to the late Thelma Spry who died November 12, 2017. He was born in Honesdale, the son of the late William and Jean Smythe Spry. William served his country in WWII in the South Pacific and was in the Battle of Iwo Jima. He also was part of the Occupation of Japan. He owned and operated Spry Excavating in Honesdale and after retirement became an avid gardener who loved sharing the fruits of his labor with family, neighbors and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lee Reed and her husband Robert of Danville, Pa and Barbara Spry of Wallingford, Pa; one granddaughter, Sharon Elizabeth Riley of Wallingford, Pa; a sister, Harriet Douglas of Fort White, FL. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Pat Slack and Jean Sothoron. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa with Rev. Michael Lyle officiating. Interment with military honors will take place in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus in the Spring.
