Anthony J. Petrone, 87, of Tyler Hill, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, March 14, 2018 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease and cancer. He and his wife, the former Geraldine Cerene were married for 67 years. Born on June 12, 1930 in Archbald, he was the son of the late John Petrone and Julie Fiehl Petrone. He was a graduate of Archbald High School, class of 1947. Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughter Ann Marie Smith and husband Ralph Smith, Tyler Hill; three sisters, Anna May Marchelitis, Archbald; Delores Casper, South Canaan; Marie Lepkoski, Bridgewater, NJ; several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by an infant son; three sisters, Elizabeth Sansenbach, Joni Oprendek, and Shirley Monie; two brothers, John and James Petrone. He formerly resided in High Falls, NY and Woodstock, NY (1957-2012) and was employed for 33 years at IBM Corp. as a Senior Associate Engineer in Kingston, NY. In the U.S. Army, he was a High Speed Radio Operator and instructor. Tony was a member of Holy Cross Church, Callicoon, NY and American Legion Post 150, Kingston, NY. He enjoyed his travels to all 50 states, several Canadian provinces, and Italy. He always looked forward to eating at the local Honesdale restaurants. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Cruse, Dr. Sholi, Dr. Murray, Dr. D'Oro, Dr. J. O'Boyle, and the nurses and staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, and Wayne Memorial Hospice. The funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Calkins Union Cemetery in the spring. Donations in Tony's name can be made to the donor's favorite charity. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home.
