I was a student in the summer Math Camp established by Eugene Nichols. At that time I was a high school student in Savannah, Georgia. This camp was a wonderful opportunity to learn mathematics. It was also my first exposure to computer programming, which was taught in assembly language! I am now a Professor of Applied Mathematics Emeritus at M.I.T. I still have many fond memories of the unique summer at Math Camp.

My sincere condolences to Sharon, Walter, Elizabeth and all the family and friends who loved “Uncle” Gene. I will always remember him for his lively spirit, sense of humor, endless energy, and generous nature. He was amazing! Smart, witty, determined, dedicated, tireless, fun-loving, and the ultimate overcomer. Wow! What a life and legacy. His work and spirit will live on. He is now reunited for eternity with those he loved who passed on before him and with his Savior Jesus Christ. Rest in Eternal Heavenly Peace, Uncle Gene.❤️
