Obituary of David C. Mill

David C. Mill, 78, of Honesdale, died Monday morning, March 20, 2017 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center after an extended illness.
Born July 27, 1938 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Loren and Doris (Rothrock) Mill.
David grew up in Newark, NJ and spent summers in Seeleyville.
In the 1960's David was a professional boxer. He had fights in Miami, Las Vegas and once in Cuba. David boxed in the lightweight and welterweight division, training in Miami at the original Miami Beach 5th Street Gym. He trained with boxers such as Emil Griffith and Willie Pastrano. His children remember talking about being trained by Angelo Dundee and how meeting Sonny Liston in 1958 was a highlight in his boxing career. Later in life, he was a silkscreen printing operator and resided in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He is survived by three children: Terry Mill and his wife Patty of Goshen, NY, Dawn Rutherford and her husband Jamie of Honesdale, and Linda Mill of Barto, PA; six grandchildren: Lauren Palmer and her husband Stephen, Audrey and Wyatt Rutherford, Natalie Mill, Cooper and Nicholas Trumbore; a step-daughter, Donna Aschendorf of South Canaan; and two sisters: Susan and Frances.
Friends may visit on Friday, March 24 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
