R. Thelma Spry passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. She was born in Tyler Hill, June 4, 1923 the daughter of Bertram and Hazel Tyler Theis. Thelma was a graduate of Damascus High School and received her teaching certificate from East Stroudsburg University. She began her teaching career in a one room school house and transitioned to teaching students with special needs. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she once served as a Sunday School teacher, Deacon, and Elder. She will be remembered for her deep faith that permeated all that she did and the love she had for family and friends alike. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the daily challenge of cross word puzzles. She is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lee Reed and her husband Robert of Danville, Pa and Barbara Spry of Wallingford, Pa; one granddaughter, Sharon Elizabeth Riley of Wallingford, Pa; two sisters, Peggy O'Neill of Pleasant Mount and Shirley Noble of Honesdale; sister in law Alice Theis of Tyler Hill; many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Gideon Theis, and sister, Bette Bunnell. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church, 10th and Church Street Honesdale with the Rev. Michael Lyle officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the First Presbyterian Church, 10th and Church Street Honesdale, Pa 18431. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa 18431
