Obituary of Richard W. Garrity

Richard W. Garrity of Honesdale died November 28, 2017 at home surrounded by family. He was married for 60 years to the late Joan Marie Pratt. Richard was born in Hawley, Pa the son of the late Frederick and Isabel Hopkins Garrity. He graduated from Honesdale High School class of 1952. Richard enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954 and served for three tours of duty as a jet aircraft mechanic until 1966. He moved back to Honesdale from New Hampshire in 1995. Richard was a member of St. John's Parish. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching, and he was a baseball fan. Richard is survived by three sons, Paul Garrity and his wife Marlys of Seattle, WA, Bruce Garrity and his late wife Brenda of Farmington, NH and Kenneth Garrity and his wife Teresa of Hawley; 7grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Richard A. Garrity and a brother, Frederick Garrity. Friends may visit the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 2:00-4:00 PM. Interment will be held in Indian Orchard Cemetery on Monday, December 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM and a memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday at the First Baptist Church of Hawley, 711 Church Street, Hawley, Pa 18428. A pot luck lunch at Richards home, 603 High Street Honesdale, Pa will follow.
