Obituary of Joan L. MacPeek

Joan Newport MacPeek, 77, died peacefully at Wayne Memorial Hospital on Sunday, January 7, 2018 with her children by her side. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles T. MacPeek, Sr. Born in Braman, the daughter of the late Reuben Newport and the late Thelma Newport Rake, Joan was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her spunkiness, her love and devotion to her family and to all who called her "Nanny". In addition to her husband she is survived by her son, Charles MacPeek, Jr and fiancé Martha Sherwood, her daughter, Roni Houghtaling and husband Loie; a brother, Willie Newport; four grandchildren, Alesha, Cody, Ian, Teresa; several great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Houghtaling; two brothers, Allen Rake and Ray Rake; two sisters, Florence Eldred and Pat Conklin. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa 18431. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00-2:00PM.
