Obituary of George J. Haun

George J. Haun, 87, of Honesdale passed away Monday evening, March 5, 2018 at Wayne Woodlands Manor in Waymart, after an illness.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, the former Freda Mae Hamlyn. They were married on October 17, 1954.

Born June 6, 1930 in Siko, Wayne County, PA he was the son of the late William and Maud (Gregory) Haun.

George served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He later worked for many years at C.R. Case & Sons in Honesdale where he was a front-end mechanic.  He enjoyed antique cars and tractors.  He was especially fond of working on antique gasoline engines.  George served for many years on the East Dyberry Cemetery Association.  He also worked on Panzer garden tractors which he took special interest in.  George will be most remembered for his love and dedication to his family.

George is also survived by a son:  Gary Haun of Honesdale; a daughter:  Dee Austin and her husband Tom of Beach Lake; a son-in-law, Robert McHugh, Jr. of Honesdale; a sister-in-law, Virginia Haun; step-grandchildren:  Shery Able, Gary VanDerStad, and Kelly Rodgers and their families; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter:  Selena McHugh; a daughter-in-law, Darlene; siblings:  Myron, Lloyd, Carlton, Harland, & James Haun, and Dorothy Day and Ann Petutsky.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 9, at 1:00 PM at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA with Rev. Edward Erb officiating. 

Friends and family may visit on Friday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Private interment will be in the East Dyberry Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
