Christine (Christa) Metka, 91, Honesdale, died Wednesday, November 03, 2021, at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Egon Metka, in 2001. Born June 17, 1930, in Lauf a. d. Pegnitz, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Ludwig and Betty Rupprecht Schindelbeck. She married her late husband on July 29, 1950, and they immigrated to the United States in 1953 settling in Butler, NJ. They moved to the Honesdale area from Oak Ridge, New Jersey, in 1990. Christa attended St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Honesdale. She enjoyed arts and crafts and especially loved growing flowers in her garden. She was also an active member of the German Club. Christa will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by two daughters and son-in-laws: Rick and Ingrid Davies and Carl and Karen Schorling; a brother Peter Schindlebeck; three sisters: Marianne Tung, Inge Akau, and Jayne Hoffman; four grandchildren: Lisa Galeazzi, Christina Floridia, Aimee Van Orden and Michael Van Orden; four great grandchildren: Gianna, Anthony, Adrianna and Christopher; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021, in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Honesdale . Memorial contributions may be made to the donor's charity of choice. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, North Main Street, Honesdale.
