James R. Bowen 66 of Honesdale, passed away Friday, March 28, 2025 at Allied Hospice, Scranton. He is survived by his wife Roxanne ( Blockberger Masker) Bowen, they were married Saturday, June 21, 1980.
Born Friday, December 26, 1958 in Honesdale, he was a son of the late Benjamin W. and Margaret Bowen. He graduated from the Honesdale High School and was employed as a mechanic first at Herzog Trucking then at Geo W. Kinsman.
Many knew him as Jim, he often couldn’t go anywhere without knowing someone, having to stop to say hello. He grew up on his family’s farm, hard work was always in his nature. He spent most of his time fixing things, full of knowledge when it came to lawn mowers and tractors. In his earlier years he enjoyed building derby cars, painting vehicles, pulling lawn mowers and traveling with his wife. Jim was often a comedian cracking random jokes at some point during conversations. To many family members he was known as Uncle Jimmy- always a great mentor for all nieces and nephews, treating them all as if they were his own. Jim spent his weekends helping his son, caring for the critters and had great love for the family’s dogs. Weekday mornings were spent at Laurels diner drinking his morning coffee with his girls. Jim will be missed by many, but left everyone who knew him with stories to tell.
Surviving are one son, James R. Bowen Jr., and his companion Brittany Zebrowski; and one brother William Bowen. Along with many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a brother Benjamin Bowen.
As per his request private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
The family would like to thank everyone for their support during this difficult time.
Arrangements attended to by the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home., Honesdale.
