Obituary of Freda Mae Haun

Freda Mae Haun, 89, of Honesdale, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2025 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. She was preceded in death by her husband George Haun who passed away March 5, 2018. Born Monday, May 6, 1935 in Curtis Valley, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Pauline Hamlyn. She graduated from Pleasant Mount High School. She was employed as a secretary at the Wayne County Commissioners office and then worked as the scale master at Bedrock Quarries. She was a member of the Waymart Church and the Spinners and Weavers Guild. Freda loved her church and horses and enjoyed spinning, weaving, knitting and crocheting. Surviving are two children; son, Gary Haun of Honesdale and, daughter, Dee Austin and her husband Tom of Beach Lake; as well as step grandchildren She was preceded in death by a daughter Selena McHugh and a brother Walter Hamlyn, Jr.. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 6-7 PM at the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main St., Honesdale with the funeral service following at 7 PM with Pastor Sal Maiorana officiating. Private interment will be in East Dyberry Cemetery.
