Obituary of Wilsa Ann “Billie” Garbe

Wilsa Ann "Billie" Garbe, 85 of Honesdale, passed away, Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. Born Tuesday, April 9, 1940 in Port Jefferson, NY she was a daughter of the late Wilbur and Sarah Hunt Garbe. She graduated from the Mineola High School, Long Island, NY. Billie was employed with the United States Postal Service, working in the Bulk Mail Room, at the Hicksville, NY post office. She retired after 30 plus years of service. She was a founding member of the Crosspoint Bible Church, Honesdale PA. Billie contributed to numerous organizations and was active with the Senior Center in Honesdale. She led Bible studies and participated in the CEF after-school program, where she managed finances for its Honesdale Chapter. Her hobbies included crocheting, bird watching, solving puzzles, and playing board games. Above all, she cherished spending time with her Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, sending letters to them and talking on the phone. Surviving are three sons, Daniel DeCrotie and his wife Robin, of NY, John DeCrotie and his wife Laurie, of FL, and Jerry DeCrotie and his wife Mary, of Honesdale; 15 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren; and one sister Carol Meissner, of NY. She was preceded in death by a daughter Susan Spradley, of GA, and a brother Ralph Garbe, of NY. Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 10-11 AM at Crosspoint Bible Church, 111 Old Salem Pike, Honesdale, PA where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. A time of fellowship at the church will follow immediately after. Interment will follow after at Mt. Hope Plains Cemetery, Otisville, NY In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wayne Co. Camp of Gideons, PO Box 743, Honesdale, PA 18431.
