DOROTHY MARIE MILLER WILCOX
Dorothy Wilcox of Honesdale passed unexpectedly at home June 5, 2025 at the age of 85. She was born April 9, 1940 in Honesdale to Fred and Dorothy Miller, their only child. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Earl (Bud) Wilcox in 2005. They were married September 15, 1962.
Dorothy, known as Dottie graduated from Honesdale High School in 1958. She was employed by Honesdale TV Service and Blue Ridge Cable.
She loved spending time with her friends and going out with them.
She was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale. She sang in the Folk Choir and Chancel Choirs, played the bells, pianist for children’s choir, member of Administrative Board, Sundy School teacher for over 50 years, enjoyed working at the chicken BBQ, dinners, pancake suppers and all the other dinners. She was a trustee of the church.
She was a member of Communities That Care, Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for many years and was on Relay for Life team for years. She was chosen as a community leader by the Business and Professional Women of Wayne County
Her life always centered around her church and her family. She was always happiest spending time with her family.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters Barbara Marie Varcoe and her husband Kevin of Honesdale and Mary Dorothy Robbins and her husband Robert, (Marty) of Honesdale. Five grandchildren Corina (Robbins) Gardner and her husband Luke Gardner of Howard, Jonathan Robbins of Honesdale, Caitlyn Robbins and Joshua Utegg of Honesdale, Courtney Varcoe and Marc Rizzo of Gouldsboro, and Kelly Varcoe and Scott Davis of Lakewood. Great grandchildren Kinsley Anne Robbins, Mary Jayne Utegg and Ezra Robert Utegg.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 2025 from 9-11 AM at the Central United Methodist Church, 205 11th St, Honesdale, with a Memorial Service following at 11 AM with Pastor Eric Funk officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Central United Methodist Church Memorial Fund 201 Church Street Honesdale, PA 18431.
