Raymond Cade Rutledge, 86, of Tyler Hill, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025 at his home.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years Betty Ann (Meckle) Rutledge. They were married May 25, 1963.
Born August 13, 1938 in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Alfred and Harriet (Cade) Rutledge.
Ray graduated from Damascus High School in 1956 and served three years with the US Army.
He was a lifelong farmer and owned and operated the Rock Ridge Farm with his brother Garry and son Raymond Jr.
Ray was an active member of the Equinunk Volunteer Fire Company and served as President for 35 years. He was also a member of the Wayne County Fireman’s Association and served as president for numerous years, a Wayne Highlands School District Board Member and a member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service (ASCS).
He enjoyed hunting, bowling and in his later years enjoyed traveling and bus trips.
Also surviving are five children: Raymond Rutledge Jr. (Mary Ann), Stephen Rutledge (Doreen), Michael Rutledge, Mark Rutledge, and Joy Sohn; one son-in-law Douglas Mills; 15 grandchildren: Cariann Rutledge, Craig Rutledge (Emily), Carissa Rutledge, Sully Rutledge (Jessie), Travis Rutledge, Sierra Rutledge, Nathan Mills, Macey Rutledge, Nicholas Mills, Mathew Mills, Paige Rutledge, Sydney Rutledge, Megan Sohn, Cade Rutledge, and Katelyn Sohn; 2 bonus grandchildren Bobbi Jo Stoss and Stephen Stoss; 6 Great Grandchildren: Emmalyn and Garrison Neumann, Luke and Adam Rutledge, and Mason and Landon Rutledge; two sisters Joan Yepson and Connie Lawrence, and a brother Richard Rutledge; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Mills and his brother Garry Rutledge.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 11 AM at Hillcrest Cemetery, Galilee.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Equinunk Volunteer Fire Company 2625 Hancock Highway, Equinunk, PA 18417.
