Brian Paul Rutledge , 79, of Abrahamsville, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025. He is survived by his wife of 32 years Sharon (Henry) Rutledge; they were married May 15, 1993. Surviving is his daughter, Cassandra Rutledge; as well as nieces and nephews.
Born July 16, 1946 in Callicoon, NY, he was the son of the late Laurence and Elsie (Walker) Rutledge. He was preceded in death by his sister Donna J. Bennett.
Brian graduated from Damascus High School in 1966. He worked for PennDot for several years before retiring. Along with his work at PennDot, Brian was a lifelong farmer. His dedication and love for his animals was strong, often putting them before himself.
He was a member of the Hillcrest Cemetery Association and he was a contributor to the Damascus Historical Society. Brian had a passion for local history. He would often share stories and pictures of past area happenings. Additionally, Brian enjoyed tractor restoration and classic country music. He had a deep knowledge of classic tractor models and the history of their evolution. His love of classic country music was apparent in the tunes he would sing, listen to, and when he would attend Old Time Fiddlers events.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm at Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 N. Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
A graveside service will be held at 11am on Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Galilee, PA. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Damascus Township Volunteer Ambulance Corps., PO Box 63, Damascus, PA 18415. Or the Equinunk Volunteer Fire Company, 2625 Hancock Highway, Equinunk, PA 18417.
