Dorothea Holloway Obituary

Dorothea Holloway, 88, wife of the late Richard Lewis Holloway of Honesdale, Pa passed away peacefully on October 11, 2025.

Born December 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Frank Repchick and Bessie Steinecke Repchick. Dorothea was a long standing member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She served on many church committees, was an Assistant Minister, and involved in Eucharistic Ministry. She worked for Wayne Highlands School District 30 years until retirement in December of 1999. She was a 25 year member of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and was an asset buyer for the hospital gift shop. She served on the Board of Retired School Employees, Honesdale Women’s Club, and the Red Hat Society. She was a member of The Country Gardeners Club and was past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, member of Laurel Chapter No. 67.

Dorothea loved spending summers with family and friends at Duck Harbor Pond where it all began many years ago with a boat ride from Richard. She loved going out on social events and was always there to help others.

Dorothea was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be missed dearly. Her family meant everything to her. Dorothea is survived by her children, Sharon (Paul) Butash, of Jessup, Pa; Diane (Brian) Varcoe, of Milanville, Pa; and Jeff (significant other Donna Feeney), of Lookout, Pa; grandchildren, Matthew, Andrew Michael (Karrie) and Stephen Butash, Jennifer (Rich) Henderson, the late David A. Adamitis, and Heather and Stephanie Holloway; great-grandchildren, Kylie, Chase, and Colten Butash, Adelyn, Lainey, and Lance Henderson and David M. Adamitis.

She was preceded in death by siblings Clarence Repchick, George S. Repchick, and Lois Repchick Kamosky and son-in-law David P. Adamitis, late husband of Diane.

A memorial service will take place at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 7th St., Honesdale, Pa Tuesday October 28th. Family and friends are invited to pay respects starting at 9 am followed by an Eastern Star Memorial and Lutheran Church service at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or a worthy cause.
