Helen Mary (Hellmers) Adams, 91 of Tyler Hill, PA passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026 at Ellen Memorial in Honesdale, PA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William R. Adams, October 2024. The couple was married for 68 years (11/10/1956).

Born at the family home in Equinunk, PA on March 9, 1934, she was the daughter to Karl and Marion (Osborne) Hellmers.

She graduated from Hancock High School, Hancock, NY where she was Valedictorian of her class. Following her graduation she attended East Stroudsburg State Teachers College, (now ESU) where she graduated with high honors.

Her sons are William Karl Adams and his wife Penny of Tyler Hill, PA and Dean Edward Adams and wife Wendy of Laurinburg, NC and step grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her very special and only grandchild Kristina Sue Adams, her loving sister Mae Jensen and her brother Robert Hellmers.

It would be impossible to list one best friend as there were so many, those from Ellen Memorial, Wayne Highlands School District, Delaware Valley School District, Damascus Ambulance Corps., Equinunk Historical Society, Damascus Historical Society, Honesdale Historical Society, the wonderful Mennonite friends/neighbors, church friends, all the neighbors who visited and all of the many people she met throughout her life, including her family.

Finally, a thank you to all of her Doctors, staff at Ellen Memorial, Damascus Ambulance Corps. crew and friends who brought books, flowers, gifts and cookies.

She enjoyed reading, her geraniums and her classmate friends she acquired from 55 years of teaching and of course teaching kindergarten was her most favorite of all.

Friends may visit Bryant's Funeral Home, N. Main St. Honesdale, PA on Wednesday March 11, 2026 from 3 to 6 with service immediately following. Christian Burial will be at a later date.
