Mary (Vannatta) Priebe, 88 of Damascus, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown.

She is survived by her husband Richard "Dick" Priebe, they were married August 8, 1956.

Born November 11, 1937 in Milanville, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Helen (Card) Vannatta.

Mary graduated from the Damascus High School and worked as an accountant. She worked at Cochecton Mills and Gitlin & Associates in Liberty, NY. During her husband’s almost 22 years of military service Mary was a strong and proud military wife supporting her husband and caring for their family in the various places they were stationed.

Mary was a faithful member of the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church. She began Soup for the Souls to support Daniels Den which was started by her granddaughter. Mary served on the Wayne Highlands School Board for 17 years and was honored to hand out diplomas to many of her grandchildren. She was also active with the VFW of Honesdale.

Mary was deeply rooted in community service. She loved decorating for various holidays to provide joy and happiness for the community and local children.

Surviving are children, Cindy Edwards wife of the late Denton Edwards, Richard Priebe, Jr "Jack" husband of the late Mary (Rieger) Priebe, Alan B. Priebe and his children’s mother Deborah Bailey, Desiree Boyce and her husband David, Nannette Burd and her husband Wes; 15 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; two brothers John Vannatta and his wife Pat, Harold "Andy" Vannatta Jr and his wife Gabriel; one sister-in-law Ruby (Kraus) Vannatta; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Sara Steven Priebe, one brother Norman Vannatta, and two sisters Martha (Shirley) Vannatta and Betty Hartman.

A viewing will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026 from 4-6 PM at the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home 1228 N. Main St., Honesdale.

A funeral service will be held Saturday March 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, 1720 Cochecton Turnpike, Damascus, PA, with Pastor Megan Wessman officiating.

Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Damascus.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Damascus Manor UMC or to a a charity of donors choice.
