Joan A. Fowler, 94, a resident of Honesdale, passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dale D. Fowler who passed away in 2025.

Born July 3, 1931 in Honesdale, Joan was the daughter of the late Jonas and Winifred Owen Rothrock. She grew up in Newark, NJ, returning to PA in her 20's. She was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church of Honesdale, long time member of the Honesdale Golf Club, Elmhurst Country Club, and Paupack Hills Golf and Country Club. In later years she enjoyed weekly bridge at her bridge club with close friends.

She had a a deep love of animals and nature and particularly enjoyed watching the wild birds, chipmunks, deer, and the occasional bear in her backyard. She also had a passion for drawing, a deep appreciation of music, and a voracious appetite for reading. She was impressively astute throughout her life: she took on new hobbies and adopted new technologies at will. She had a clever mind, a perceptive eye, and a heart overflowing with love. She spent much of her time sharing this love with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her three children, Geoffrey Fowler of Honesdale, Ty Fowler and his wife Mary of Prompton, Susan Ruppert and her husband David of Ithaca NY, 8 Grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Joan was preceded in death by her son Dale T. Fowler. She was the last survivor of 10 siblings: 3 sisters, Winifred Wasman, Helen O'Neill, and Doris Joost, and 6 brothers, Charles, Ernest, Howard, Edward "Pete", Walter, and Lindy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 from 4-6 PM at the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 N. Main St., Honesdale. A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.
