Ernesto G. "Ernie" Ramirez, 79, of Honesdale passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center. He was preceded in death

by his beloved wife Shirley (Montgomery) Ramirez.

Born on April 14, 1947 in Honesdale, he was the son of the late Florence Mackle.

Ernie attended college and earned an associates degree in business. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force and was stationed in Germany at Hahn Air Force Base.

Following his military services, Ernie enjoyed a long career with PPL as a Right of Way Agent. He began his career in Wallenpaupack, eventually transferred to Bloomsburg, and then finished his career in Honesdale, where he continued his dedicated service for many years.

Ernie had a deep appreciation for nature and the outdoors. Whether spending time outside enjoying the beauty of the world around him or capturing special moments through his camera lens, photography was one of his greatest passions. Family gatherings, vacations, celebrations, and everyday outings often found Ernie behind the camera preserving memories for future generations. His favorite saying was, “People will kill for these in 20 years,” a phrase he often shared as he snapped yet another picture.

Above all, Ernie treasured his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than spending time with his grandchildren, James and Isabella. He was a proud and devoted grandfather whose love, guidance, and presence will be remembered and cherished by all who knew him.

Surviving are a son, Christopher Ramirez and his wife Shira of Honesdale; his beloved grandchildren James Albert Ramirez and Isabella Grace Ramirez; a brother George Rogers and his wife Theresa; as well as several nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.

In addition to his wife, Ernie was preceded in death by his brother Robert Richards and his sister, Marilyn Richards McGinty.

A celebration of life will be held on: Thursday July 9, 2026 at Woodside Mission House 611 Bethany Turnpike, Honesdale, PA 18431. The family will receive guests at 10am with a service to follow at 11am.
