Daniel A. Rothrock of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on July 23, 2026. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dianne; his son, Andrew Rothrock and his wife, Megan; three granddaughters, Samantha, Aubrey, and Genevieve; his sister, Elizabeth Zawacki and her husband, Robert; his niece, Jennifer Zawacki and her partner, Raymond Hughes; and his cousin, Lon Ludwig.

Dan was the son of Betty and Edward Rothrock of Jersey City and Beach Lake. Born in Jersey City, he later moved to Roselle Park, New Jersey, in 1956. After graduating high school, Dan joined the U.S. Army, serving as an MP in both Germany and Vietnam. Upon returning home in 1971, he completed a four-year sheet metal apprenticeship and became a draftsman for Westfield Sheetmetal Works. He later worked for the Norfolk Southern Railroad as a carman from 1992 until his retirement in 2012.

While living in New Jersey, Dan was an active member of the American Legion. However, his greatest passion was his involvement with the Boy Scouts of America. He dedicated over 20 years of service as a Cub Master, Scout Master, and Merit Badge Advisor, and was honored to be a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.

Ever since he was a child, Dan loved vacationing in Beach Lake, Pennsylvania, spending his summers and winters enjoying hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling with his friends. Following his retirement in 2012, he and Dianne moved permanently to Beach Lake.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all of his caregivers in his later years, with special gratitude to their wonderful friends and neighbors from Beach Lake, including the Olvers, Buckinghams, and Babels.

Arrangements are being handled by Bryant Funeral Home (1228 Main St., Honesdale). Viewings will be held Friday 1-5, 7-9 and Saturday 9-10. A memorial service will take place Sat. at 10 AM at the funeral home. Followed by the burial at Glen Cove Cemetery in Narrowsburg, NY.
