Doris Marie Conklin, 90, of Honesdale, passed away peacefully Friday morning at home with her loving husband of 70 years by her side. Doris ,born December 29th,1925, the youngest daughter of three to the late Irvin and Mary Hartman, graduated from Honesdale High School and was a life member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Doris was employed at Stourbridge Elementary School where she worked in the cafeteria. She was an active charter member of the Rare Squares of Honesdale, and a lifeguard of many years at the Honesdale Area Pool. On December 20th, 1945, Doris married the love of her life, Earl Conklin. The couple enjoyed many summers at their lake house together with family and friends, traveling, and hosting many gatherings at their house for dinner and cards. Family was a very important part of Doris's life. She was a loving mother to her two sons Ronald and Richard Conklin, a very devoted Nana of three grandchildren, Lindsay Conklin, Jace Conklin, and Kacie Post. Her two nieces Maxine Bailey and Susan Dennis also held a large part in her heart. Nothing made Doris happier than being surrounded by her loved ones and will be greatly missed by all. Memorial services were held Monday, April 25th, 2016 with close family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either St. John's Lutheran Church or Wayne Memorial Hospice. The family is forever grateful to the wonderful care Hospice provided to Doris.
