Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth L. Skinner, 76, Honesdale, died Saturday, July 9, 2016 peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife of 48 years the former Joyce Robbins. Born in Honesdale, son of the late Kenneth L. and Leila Gregory Skinner, he graduated from Honesdale High School in 1957. After high school, he served on the Pennsylvania National Guard for 8 years. He was employed by the Farmers and Merchants Bank where he worked for 39 years, initially as a bank teller and ultimately serving as bank Vice-President. Before retirement, he worked for four years as a searcher for Inter-County Abstract. Kenny was a lifetime member of the Grace Episcopal Church, Honesdale, where he was very active, having served in many capacities including Vestry and church treasurer. Very important to him was his love of music, singing with the church choir for over 40 years. He liked playing the piano and organ at home and with some coaching from Phyllis Korb would sometimes play organ during church services. Kenny would often be seen riding the roads of Wayne County in his convertible. He enjoyed line dancing, instructed by Mae Figura. An avid reader, during his retirement, he kept a log of the hundreds of books he read. He was also especially clever and crafty. He will be remembered for his quick wit and "Kenny jokes" and as a man who shared many good times with his family and friends. In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters: Kimberly Skinner and her companion Albert Snyder, Lakewood, and Jill Skinner and her husband, Thad Sheard, Saylorsburg; two grandchildren: Madeline Sheard and Finnegan Sheard, both of Saylorsburg; a brother, Stuart Skinner, Honesdale; an aunt, Orvetta Stevenson, Equinunk, a nephew and great nephew. Funeral services with Burial office will be held at Noon on Thursday, July, 14, 2016 in the Grace Episcopal Church, Honesdale, with services by Fr. Edward Erb. Interment will follow in Indian Orchard Cemetery. Friends may visit from 4:00 - 7:00 pm on Wednesday at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home , 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale. Memorial contributions are requested to be made to the Grace Episcopal Church Organ Fund, c/o Grace Episcopal Church, 827 Church St. Honesdale, PA 18431 The family would like to extend special thanks to Wayne Memorial Hospice nurses and aides for their compassion and care.
