Rebecca Gay (Dennis) Templeton Rebecca died on August 3, 2016 at her home in Honesdale, Pennsylvania. Per her wishes, she will be honored at the Minnesota State P.E.O. Convention Memorial Service being held in St. Cloud, Minnesota in May 2017. Her cremains will be interred at a future date at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota where she will rest with her late husband, Tim. Rebecca was born September 1, 1946 at Sulphur Springs, TX to Ardys N. (Nelsen) Dennis and Aubrey M. Dennis. She attended Robbinsdale High School, Hamline University and South Central Technical College. In 1965, she married Bruce Iverson in Crystal, MN. They had one daughter, Amy Louise. They were divorced three years later. Rebecca married Tim Templeton on July 11, 1970 in St. Paul, MN. They had two children, Elizabeth Marie Templeton in 1972 and Mark Henry Templeton in 1976. They had celebrated 39 years of marriage when Tim died in 2009. In 1974 she moved with her family to Le Sueur, MN and worked at the family business, Templetons' Red Owl for 26 years. In 1980, the business expanded with a variety store where she opened a custom picture frame shop. After the sale of the supermarket and variety stores, she worked for Quality Home Improvement as bookkeeper, Quality Custom Frame as a picture framer and L S Engineers, Inc. as office support. In 2011, she moved to Honesdale, PA to help care for her twin granddaughters. In 1980, she was initiated into Chapter EA of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. She served in many local chapter offices and she was elected to the Minnesota State Board of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in 1994. With the devoted support of her husband and her chapter sisters, she served on the board for seven years, serving as state president in 2000-2001. She served as Vice-chairman of the Convention of International Chapter of the P.E.O. Sisterhood held at the Minneapolis Convention Center in September of 2007. She was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church in Le Sueur and served on the Church Council and as church treasurer for several years. She made many of the banners displayed in the church. She was also active in the Needlework Guild of Minnesota and the Minnesota Over 60 Band. She is remembered by many who attended her craft classes. Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her children Amy (Henry) Garza of Keller, TX, Elizabeth (Debra Shih) Templeton of Revere, MA, and Mark (Orley) Templeton of Dallas, PA. Grandchildren, Samuel Garvin of Minneapolis, MN; Frank Garvin of Fort Worth, TX; Orleana and Aubrey Templeton of Dallas, PA; mother, Ardys N. Dennis, sister Christine A. (James) Skelly and brother Nelsen E. (Kathleen) Dennis all of Saltillo, TX. She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
