Obituary of Sally Ruth Hawley

Sally Ruth Hawley, 80, of Equinunk passed away on May 24th, 2023 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. She is survived by her husband Mark Hawley. Sally was born in Honesdale on March 12th, 1943 the daughter of the late Willard and Ethel Winans and survived by stepmother, Dorothy Lester Brown. She graduated from high school and was a home health aide and then went on to work as a cook at the Wayne County Senior Center. Sally enjoyed visiting with her friends, co-workers, and neighbors. She will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and bringing joy and laughter to everyone she encountered. To know her was to love her. In addition to her husband Mark Hawley, she is survived by her daughter Valerie Rutledge Honesdale, son-in-law Michael Rutledge, Damascus, and daughter-in-law Christina Hawley a Frenchtown New Jersey; Grandchildren, Sully Rutledge and wife Jessie of Equinunk, Sierra Rutledge, Damascus, Grant and Josephine Hawley Frenchtown, New Jersey; Great grandchild Mason Rutledge; Sisters, Judith Mohn, Beach Lake, Linda Kolinger, Milford PA, Marlene Freehill, Howells New York; Brothers, Richard Brown, Equinunk, and Gerald Brown, East Stroudsburg; Goddaughter, Melissa Gager Rutledge, Tyler Hill PA. Sally will be missed by her sister, Judy, her best friend whom she talked with everyday. Sally also had a very special relationship with her niece, Lori Mohn Johnson, Sarasota, Fl. Sally was proceeded in death by her father Willard Brown and son, Eric Mark Hawley. As per Sally's wishes, there will be no services.
