James Calvin Richner, (88), residing at Meadow View Manor, West Virginia, passed into the arms of his Heavenly Father, on June 21, 2023. James was born to George and Cornelia Richner, on June 17, 1935 , in Honesdale, Pa. James was married to the late Beverly Mae Oakley of Carbondale and Esther Christine Ward of North Wales, Pa. James attended college at East Stroudsburg State Teachers College where he earned a degree in English with a minor in History. James was also drafted into the army during the Korean War where he served his country as a supply clerk and ordinance supply specialist. James taught English in the Narrowsburg School District and Delaware Valley School District and was also an administrator of several private Christian schools. He received his master's degrees at Oneonta State University and Grace Theological Seminary. James loved the outdoors, gardening, hunting, fishing as well as the arts, singing and poetry. Over the years James was active in his local church in leadership positions, music and children's ministries as well as being on the board of Child Evangelism Fellowship. James is survived by his six children, Stevan, Pamela, Timothy, Christine, Douglas, and Susan. His nine grandchildren, Sara, Joshua, Jessica, Shannon, Joselyn, Alyssa, Hannah, Lukas and Lilly, and his three great grandchildren, Lacey, Ellie and Caden. He is also survived by his brothers, Bill, Arthur, Daniel and sisters, Ruth, Betty and Mary. James's family will host a memorial service on June 30, at 11:00 at the Bryant Funeral Home in Honesdale, Pa. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to: Child Evangelism Fellowship of Wayne County Chapter, in James's name.
