Obituary of Mamie E. Day

Mamie E. Day, 89, of Equinunk PA, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, surrounded by her family in the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 55 years, Alvin Thomas Day, who died in 1996. Born on December 13, 1922 in Equinunk, she was the daughter of the late Albert Andrew and Bertha Elizabeth Varcoe Brining. She was a member of the Union Methodist Church in Equinunk. Mamie was an avid quilter and made many quilts with the Quilting Guild in Equinunk; her quilts were donated to many local nursing homes and the Wayne Memorial Hospital. Mamie enjoyed playing cards and traveling. She was a kind and fun loving person. She is survived by her children: Albert Day and his wife Linda of Equinunk, Hazel Rockefeller and her husband Thomas of Virgina, Daniel Day and his wife Etta of Cold Spring, and James Day and his wife Donna of Equinunk; daughters in law: Diane Day of Equinunk, and Linda Dunn Day of Honesdale; a sister: Madlyn Miller of Equinunk; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by four children: Stella, William, Paul, and Randall Day; and a grandson, Thomas Rockefeller, Jr. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Friends may visit from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the funeral home. Interment will be Friday in the Union Cemetery, Equinunk.
