Gries Date of Death: January 11, 2013 ____________________________________________________________________________ LeRoy R. Gries, 86, of Winter Haven, Florida, formerly of Damascus Township, died Friday, January 11, 2013 in Florida. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Mayer. Born on July 9, 1926 in Tyler Hill, he was the son of the late Russell and Beatrice Weber Gries. He served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. LeRoy was the owner and operator of an appliance store for many years in Winter Haven Florida. He was a long-standing member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Winter Haven. He is also survived by three brothers: Allen Gries of Lakeland, Florida, Harold Gries of Damascus, and Walter Gries of Jeffersonville, NY; five sisters: Alice Turner of Damascus, Lena Glossenger of Bethany, Joyce Fuchs of Florida, Gloria Kramer of Lock Haven, and Rosemary Bayly of Honesdale; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was also preceded in death by six brothers: George, Howard, Charles, Russell Jr., Gerald, and Vernon Gries; and two sisters: Alma Hitty and Helen Wilcox. Graveside Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 in the Hillside Cemetery Route 371 in Damascus at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Lane Jones officiating. Friends may visit on Friday, January 18, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
