Joan E. Case, of Honesdale, passed away at home surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, March 24, 2013. She is survived by her husband Charles E. Case. They have been married for fifty seven years. Born in Honesdale she was the daughter of the late Florence and Charlotte Evans Dunning. Joan graduated from Honesdale High School class of 1953. She worked at Scureman's Drug Store when she was younger serving ice cream sodas. Joan received her nursing degree from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Carbondale and practiced as a registered nurse before starting her family. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Honesdale where she enjoyed attending with her mother and family. Joan was an accomplished pianist and shared her love of music with her daughters and grandchildren. She spent summers at Elk Lake, Waymart and winters in Venice, Florida with her husband. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be greatly missed. In addition to her husband Joan is survived by four daughters; Cherie Phillips and her husband David of Waymart, Jane Case of Honesdale, Patti Brown of Montrose, and Lisa Priebe and her husband Craig of Leesport; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by two sisters, Clayre and Charlotte and her beloved brother Lewis Dunning. In accordance with her wishes a private funeral service will be held at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, PA.
