Frederick J. Mayer, 70, of Pleasant Mount, died unexpectedly Monday evening, April 15, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Helene DelaRosa Mayer. Born on August 31, 1942 in Hackensack, NJ, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Marie Roth Mayer. In his youth, Fred served in the United States Navy; after his Honorable Discharge, he worked in many capacities for Bell Atlantic in New Jersey until retirement. He loved cars, golf, mowing his lawn, and sitting in his garage listening to Doo-Wop music. Fred was an exceptional individual; his talents will be passed down through the generations. Fred will be remembered also for his love of family. He will be dearly missed. He is also survived by three children: Fred Mayer and his wife Kerry of Vernon, NJ, Jim Mayer of Phoenix, AZ, and Vickie Bell and her husband Jeff of Southington, CT; six grandchildren: Ryan, Sara, and Jordan Mayer, and Jack, Luke, and Lucy Bell; a brother: James Mayer and his wife Rose Ann of Montclair, New Jersey. In accordance with his wishes, following cremation, a Memorial Service with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 7:00 P.M. at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Friends may visit from 6:00 P.M. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Fred's memory to Wallenpaupack Area Little League (WALL) PO Box 294, Newfoundland, PA 18445.
