Obituary of Tammy Mistishin Franks

Please share a memory of Tammy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tammy Mistishin Franks, 42, of Danville, passed away on May 16, 2013, at her home, surrounded by family and friends, and is now standing hand in hand with God. She was born on December 24, 1970, in Paterson, New Jersey, the loving daughter of John and Janice Mistishin of Waymart. She enjoyed a happy childhood with her siblings, John, Mike, and Sue. Tammy graduated from Western Wayne High School with honors in 1989. She continued her education at Bloomsburg University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Imaging. She trained at Geisinger's School of Cardiovascular Medicine and became a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist. She worked at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and Williamsport Hospital before joining Healthworks Medical Staffing Agency. With Healthworks, she worked as a Cardiovascular Specialist in hospitals throughout southeastern and central Pennsylvania. She spent the last part of her career working in Geisinger Medical Center's Cardiology Department. Tammy enjoyed a full, active life with her family and friends. She loved dancing and worked as a Zumba Instructor for the Danville Area Community Center. Tammy was committed to the fight against cancer and supported fundraisers for breast cancer awareness and research. She was also very active in the Danville community and enjoyed dedicating her time to organizations such as Geisinger's House of Care. Everyone who had the pleasure of being a part of Tammy's world knows that she had a true passion for life. Her family was always her top priority, and she was a loving wife to her husband, Dan, and proud mother of three wonderful boys: Keegan, Logan, and Dagen. She loved few things more than cheering for her sons at a sports game or spending time outdoors with family and friends. Tammy was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Gladys and Frank DeFazio, as well as her paternal grandparents, John and Anna Mistishin. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Daniel Franks; her three sons: Corpsman Keegan Franks, United States Navy, Bethesda, Maryland, and Logan and Dagen Franks, at home; her parents, John and Janice Mistishin of Waymart; her two brothers, John Mistishin and his wife, Amy, of Waymart, and Mike Mistishin and his wife, Michelle, of Lake Ariel; a sister, Sue Martin and her husband, Robert, of Florida; her parents-in-law Robert and Katherine Franks, of Danville; brothers-in-law Scott and Brian Franks, both of Milton; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. As Tammy shared so much of her life generously with others, the family hopes our community will follow her example, donating time and energy to acts of kindness and charity as a fitting tribute to her spirit. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of the Central United Methodist Church, 205 11th Street, Honesdale, PA 18431 with Rev.
