Donald S. Noble passed away on August 11, 2013 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale at the age of 80. He was married to Shirley (Beardsley) Noble. Born February 21, 1933 he was the son of the late Samuel D. and Mildred (Olver) Noble. Don went to Beach Lake and Calkins Grade School and later graduated from Damascus High School Class of 1951. Don worked for Louis Hocker in Milanville as a carpenter from 1951 to 1953. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Don received his honorable discharge and then worked for S. J. Bailey & Sons. He started working for the Honesdale Gas Company in 1958 and remained there until his retirement. Don also delivered The Wayne Independent newspaper to rural communities. Don was a quiet person always willing to help someone. He loved playing ping pong and chess with his children and grandchildren. Don loved bowling, reading the bible, and will be remembered for riding his bicycle in town. Don was a life member of Honesdale Engine No. 3 Fire Company, American Legion Post 254 of Honesdale, and the Central United Methodist Church of Honesdale. Don is survived by two children, a son Jeffrey Noble and his fiance', Michele Gibbons of Honesdale and a daughter Janice Liptak of Bethany; six grandchildren, Rheanon Weston and her husband Brian, Jacqueline Bigart and her husband Chad, Jordyn Noble, Ashley Liptak, Jessica Liptak, and Dustin Liptak; 2 great grandchildren, Luke and Dean Weston; a sister Virginia Dutton of Tyler Hill; and a son-in-law, Daniel Liptak of Honesdale. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Eugene, William, Thomas, and Malcolm Noble; four sisters, Eleanor Rice, Louise Tegeler, Mary Dutton and Hazel Noble. At the request of the family there will not be a visitation. A graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A.
