Msgt. Robert B. Rine, Ret., 71, of Honesdale, died unexpectedly, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife, Patricia A. Budd Rine. They would have celebrated their 46th Wedding Anniversary on September 3. Born on April 12, 1942 in Sunbury, PA, he was the son of the late William and Louise (Wertz) Rine. Robert was a member of the Bethany Presbyterian Church. He served in the United States Marine Corps, and retired with 20 years of service. He served several tours in Vietnam and had the distinction of serving 8 years with HMX-1, the Presidential Helicopter Squadron, at Quantico, Virginia. He also retired after 18 years of service at Tobyhanna Army Depot. He was a Pennsylvania State Game Commission Deputy for 10 years. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed many years as a Hunter Education Instructor. Robert loved his family very much and will be greatly missed by all. He is also survived by two sons: Kevin Rine and his wife Anita of Palm Coast, Florida, and Timothy Rine of Honesdale; five brothers: William Rine and his wife Joan of Napanoch, New York, Earl Rine and his wife Janice of Honesdale, Marlin Rine and his wife Diane of Oneida, New York, Howard Michael Rine of Rome, New York, and James Rine of Oneida, New York; three grandchildren: Taneisha, Heather, and Kevin Rine, Jr. all of Florida; a brother-in-law, James Budd and his wife Karen of Honesdale; and many nieces and nephews; and his faithful constant companion, Sarge. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Rine. Funeral Services with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. in the Bethany Presbyterian Church with Rev. William Blackie officiating. Friends may visit on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Robert's memory to the American Heart Association or the Bethany Presbyterian Church.
