Clinton H. Leet, 91, of Honesdale, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 in Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Westcott Leet. Born on June 3, 1922 in Starrucca, he was the son of the late Raymond and Grace Sanford Leet. Clinton graduated from Preston High School in 1940. He went on to earn a B.S. in Agriculture Education from Penn State University in 1945. Clinton taught in Wayne County Schools including Preston and Lakewood. Following his career as an educator, he established an insurance and real estate business which he owned and operated for many years. Clinton was an avid airman, and had attained his Private Pilot's License. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale. Clinton also belonged to the Honesdale Free and Accepted Masons Blue Lodge No. 218, and the Wayne County Shrine. Clinton was an enthusiastic historian; he was a member of the Wayne County Historical Society and was well known in the community as the man who began the Stourbridge Lion Train Rides in 1979. He was known as the "Idea Man". His support of the local community was also evident through his involvement in WEDCO, The Boy Scouts of America, the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce, and the Planetary Society. He is also survived by five children: Norman Leet, Elaine Leet, Martha Clister and her husband Dave, Chris Leet, and Lois Leet; four grandchildren: Roy Carrick, C. Bruce Carrick, Jackie Althoff, and Terri Clister; seven great-grandchildren: Kailyn, Andrew, Abiagael, Connor, Dixon, Clara Carrick, and Lena Althoff. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Sanford Leet, Nelson Leet, and his sister, Idaline Lucas. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 7:15 P.M. in the Wesley Room of the Central United Methodist Church, Honesdale, Pa 18431with Rev. Robert Kazinski officiating. Friends may visit on Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Wesley Room. Masonic Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Clinton H. and Lorraine Westcott Leet Irrevocable Education Trust c/o Honesdale National Bank Trust Department, 724 Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Shehawken Cemetery. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431.
