Obituary of Diana W. Thompson

Diana W. Thompson, 88, of Honesdale died Thursday, December 6, 2013, in Regional Hospital of Scranton after an illness. Born July 7, 1925 in Lookout, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Elva Rose Westcott. Diana graduated from Damascus High School and the Wayne Commercial School. Diana was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church. She was a Waste Management Supervisor at Moore Business Forms. Diana had a strong love of music, and even taught herself to play guitar by ear when she was a child. She would spend hours playing her favorite country songs on the acoustic guitar. In addition to the guitar, Diana had a beautiful singing voice, and yodeled her way into the hearts of many who were lucky enough to see her perform. Diana's greatest gift was the strength and love she provided for her entire family. She was truly the rock that her children and grandchildren could always lean on. She had the ability to make you laugh so hard you would cry, and she truly made each and every person in her life feel loved and special. She was deeply treasured by her family, and will be greatly missed. She is survived by two children: Sharon Knickerbocker and her husband Art of Honesdale, and Alice Mullen and her husband Bob of Bethany; four grandchildren: Kelly Benarick and her husband Gene, Emmy Lieser and her husband John, Mikaela Scott and her husband Charles, and Summer Tighe; nine great-grandchildren; and a sister, Naida Baer of Syracuse, New York. She was also preceded in death by two children: Frances Chojnecki and James Thompson; and a sister, Inez Spry. Memorial Services will be held on Monday, December 9 at 11:00 A.M. in the Bethany United Methodist Church with Rev. Kenneth Small officiating. Friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until the time service at the church. Interment will be in Bethany Cemetery. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A.
