Edgar Clarkson, 83, of Carbondale, formerly of Susquehanna County, died Wednesday evening, April 9, 2014 in the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale after an extended illness. Born June 17, 1930 in Lenox Township, he was the son of the late Edgar and Geraldine Minemier Clarkson. Edgar was a Psychiatric Security Aide and Licensed Practical Nurse at Farview State Hospital for many years. He also worked as a nurse at the former St. Joseph's Hospital in Carbondale. Edgar enjoyed driving which we continued to do until last November. He also enjoyed camping and traveling, and especially meeting people along the way. He was of the Protestant Faith. He is survived by four children: Sue Kaufman and her husband James of Honesdale, Vicki Gigliotti and her husband Dominick of Waymart, Thomas Clarkson of Jermyn, and John Clarkson of Carbondale; six grandchildren: Courtney Kaufman-Heath and her husband Christopher, Carissa Gigliotti and her husband Daniel Haeusser, William Clarkson, Genell Clarkson, Elizabeth Clarkson, and Cassie Clarkson; four great grandchildren: Anna Heath, Adrianna Clarkson, Sophia Clarkson and Blaine Leininger. The family wishes to thank the staff of Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Highland Manor, and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kind and loving care. Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Clifford Valley Cemetery, Clifford, PA. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
