Lois J. Williams, 86, of Honesdale, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 in the Ellen Memorial Health Care Center after an illness. Born March 9, 1928 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Elsie (Kretschmer) Williams. Lois was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a very active member in church activities; a Sunday school teacher, a choir member for 60 years, a member of the WELCA woman's group and the Needles for Needs. Lois was the last surviving charter member of the Wayne Choralaires. She was a member of the Woman's Club and the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxillary. She was employed in secretarial positions in sportswear companies, the latest being Katz Und. Co. She is survived by sisters: Mrs. Ray (Betty) Bodie, Mary Lou Ekstrom, and Mrs. Andrew (Candace) VonDeak; sister-in-law: Mrs. (Raymond) Rose Williams; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Mrs. Clarence (Margaret) Miller, and Mrs. Nelson (Jean) Phillips; and brother: Raymond Williams. Following cremation, Memorial Services will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 Seventh St. Honesdale, PA 18431. Interment will be in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Honesdale. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lois' memory to the Organ Fund are appreciated and encouraged for St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 107 Seventh St. Honesdale, PA 18431. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 North Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
