William W. Doney, aka "Big Daddy", 82, of Honesdale. Husband of June Mignerey Doney. Died Wednesday , June 11th at Scranton Regional Hopsital. Bill was born in Carbondale, Pa to the late Warren and Anna Bodie Doney. Bill and June would have been married 61 years on June 15th of this year. Bill attended Honesdale High school and was a Member of the Pennsylvania National Guard. He served his country in the Korean War. Following discharge, he worked at GLF, Kinsman's as parts Manager and later as Manager of Turkey Hill in Honesdale. He worked with Habitat for Humanity and Dyberry Township.He was very involved with the Bethany Presbyterian church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a brother Richard Doney and his wife Lynn of Honesdale. A son William L. Doney and his wife April from Burnsville, NC. A Daughter Denise Doney Sprague and husband Gary of Honesdale, Pa. Five Grandchildren, Robert Doney of Gouldsboro, Pa; Lori Doney Yankauskas and husband Sam of Newfoundland; Michael Sprague and wife Ariana of Waymart; Colleen Sprague Branning and husband Phil of Waymart; and Danielle Sprague Adolfson and husband Daniel of Honesdale. Eight grandchildren, several step grand and great grandchildren. many nephews and nieces. And also his beloved dog Charlie. Predeceased: by sisters Edna Oliver and Dorothy Robbins , twins, son Albert and daughter Pamela. And grandson Gregory Doney. He will long be remembered by his laughter, and laugh wrinkles. He loved to tease and to be teased. Favorite past times throwing horseshoes, flipping coins, and playing pinochle. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 17th at the Bethany Presbyterian church at 11:00am with Interment to follow at The Glass Factory Cemetery located on the Beech Grove Rd. Viewing will be at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa. Monday, June 16th, evening from 6:00-9:00. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Bethany Presbyterian church.
