Ruth Newton DeSau, a resident of Hawley PA, died Wednesday, July 2nd, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, after an illness. Born in South Williamsport Pa on April 17, 1930, the daughter of Robert Newton and Helen Long Newton. She one of seven siblings and a graduate of South Williamsport High School class of 1948. Before retiring, Ruth was the Office Manager and Business Partner with her husband George's private Psychological Practice and DeSau, Pearson and Associates of York PA. Even after retirement she continued to be active as she took on the role of Assistant State Coordinator for the 55 Alive Defensive Driving Course for seniors. She enjoyed traveling through the country and world with her husband George, being a homemaker, gardening, taking long walks, and playing games with her grandchildren and Bridge with her Bridge Club in York Pa., but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends; especially her five grand children and six great grand children, who would always bring a smile to her face, a gleam in her eyes and a little extra spring in her step. Surviving are husband George DeSau of Hawley PA, sons Steven DeSau of Pottstown PA, Michael DeSau and his wife Kimberly of Hawley PA; sister Bernice Chesney and her husband Jack Chesney of South Williamsport PA; grandchildren Jessica Corrigan and her husband Daniel Corrigan of Beach Lake PA, Jackie DeSau and partner Petr Sevcik of Welcome Lake PA, Matthew DeSau of Honesdale PA, Rachel DeSau of Hawley PA, and Jennifer Barber and her husband Ron Barber of York PA; great grandchildren Violet Whitmore, Nesta Sevcik, Shaela Corrigan, Isla Corrigan, Emilynn Barber, Madeline Barber and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Helen Newton; brothers William Newton, Ralph Newton, Robert Newton; sister Lois Newton Johns and a twin brother who died at birth. The family would like to thank the staff at Wayne Memorial Hospital's ICU for the kind and loving care they provided during her recent stay. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, July 12th at 11:00 am, at the South Williamsport United Methodist Church, 409 Main St., S. Williamsport PA. Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main St. Honesdale, PA 18431.
