Lois G. Houghtaling, 80,Prompton,PA, died Friday August 29, 2014 at her home after an illness. She was preceded in death by two husband: Donald Ostrander and Aaron Houghtaling. Born in Calicoon, NY daughter of the late Louis and Eleanor Buddenhagen Mitterwager, she graduated from Delaware Valley High School in 1952. She was a member of the Methodist Church and was a dedicated and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by two sons: Stephen Ostrander and wife Mary, North Carolina, Jeffrey Ostrander, at home and a daughter Mrs. Julie Alverez and husband Stephen, Honesdale; foursisters: Gladys Houghtaling, Callicoon, NY, Gail Peake, Long Eddy, NY, Karen Hubert and husband, Thomas, Fremont Center, NY and Cheryl Porter and husband Francis, Long Eddy, NY; five grandchildren: Cory Ostrander, Traveler's Rest. S.C., Ryan Ostrander and wife Lynn, Tupper Lake, NY; Amanda Christison and husband Keith, Browndale, Sarah Alvarez, Honesdale and Alicia Alvarez, Factoryville;seven great grandchildren: Hayley Christison, Joshua and Chesney Ostrander, Katelyn Vito, Mathew Ostrander, Zachary and Nathan Ostrander; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Brian Houghtaling, a grandson, Travis Ostrander, 2 sisters: Sylvia Mitterwager and Beverley Houghtaling, and a brother, Kenneth Mitterwager. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, September 4, 2014 in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North MAin Street, Honesdale with Rev. Mary Bryant officiating. Interment will be in the Pine Mill Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8:00 pm and on Thursday from Noon to 1:00pm.
