Arlene Arnold, 83, of Lititz, Pa; formerly of Bethany, Pa passed away on October 5, 2014. Born in Fortina, Pa on March 16, 1931, Arlene was the daughter of the late Claude Smith and Mary (Hines) Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Russel Arnold. Arlene is survived by her daughters, Karen Appel (widow of Earl Appel) of Equinunk, Pa and Kathy Vasisko and her husband, Barry, of Lancaster, Pa.; grandchildren Tobey Reppard, Terry Appel and his wife, Stephanie Marks, Jeffrey Vasisko and David Vasisko; and three great grandsons, Logan Reppard, Mason Reppard, and Ash Appel. She has 6 surviving brothers and sisters: Douglas Smith, Margate, Fla Shirley Gillow, Bethany, Pa Claude Smith and wife, Mary, Lafayette, N.J. Marilyn Kimble and husband, Donald, Tafton, Pa Carol Rechner and husband, Hugh; Honesdale, Pa Wayne Smith and wife, Kathy, Centennial, Co Many nieces and nephews. Arlene lived all her life in Wayne County until August of 2013 when she moved to Lititz, Pa. She worked many years as a sewing machine operator but enjoyed all types of crafts in her retirement. In most recent years she enjoyed serving with the sewing circle of Bethany UM Church working on their sleeping bag ministry. A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 11:00 am at Bethany United Methodist Church. Friends and family may visit at the church from 10:00 - 11:00 am. Internment will be in Clinton Center Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to LutherCare, 600 East Main St, Lititz, Pa, 17543 or to Bethany United Methodist Church, 3 Court St, Bethany, Pa. 18431 Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa 18431
