Harriet D. Mitchell, age 87, of Honesdale died Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Bethany Village. She was married to the late Everett Mitchell who died in 2006. Harriet was born February 14, 1927 in Honesdale the daughter of the late Harry and Pauline (Horst) Dennhardt. Harriet was a nurse's aide at Wayne Memorial Hospital in the maternity department for 25 years. Before working at the hospital she was a telephone operator. Harriet was a Red Cross Volunteer for blood drives and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Honesdale. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by a son, Rev. Barry Mitchell and his wife Elizabeth of Bath, Pa; a daughter, Pamela Misner and her husband Gary of Honesdale; two sisters, Jean Dennhardt of NYC and Janet Sargent of Blue Bell, Pa; four grandchildren, Lori Ahern and her husband James of Bethany, Holly Smith and her husband Michael of Honesdale, Eric Mitchell of Allentown, USAF Captain Kurt Mitchell and his wife Laura of Fairfax, VA; four great grandchildren, Kayla Blydenburgh of Honesdale, Abby Skelton of Honesdale, J.P. Ahern of Bethany, and Jared Ahern of Bethany; several nieces and nephews A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 1:00 PM at St John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Kenneth Buckwalter officiating. . Memorial contributions can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 7th and Church Street, Honesdale, Pa 18431 Arrangements are attended by the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa 18431 .
