Obituary of Gary Van Der Stad

Gary Van Der Stad, 64, of Honesdale, died at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2011. Born on May 27, 1947 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Aaron and Kitty Koningswood Van Der Stad. He was an auto body mechanic who enjoyed old cars and attending car shows. Gary also was a talented craftsman who constructed model railroads. He is survived by three children, Sherry Abel and her husband Eric of Seelyville, Gary Van Der Stad, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Waymart, and Kelly Rogers and her husband Michael of Honesdale; eight grandchildren, Eric Abel, Jr., Erica Abel, Justine Van Der Stad, Ashley Van Der Stad, Aaron Van Der Stad, Kristie De Groat, Michael Van Der Stad, and Dylan Rogers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 Main Street, Honesdale, Pa with the Rev. Jim Corbin officiating. Friends may visit the funeral home on Saturday from 12:00-2:00 P.M. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
