Elizabeth (Betsy) Castellano, 63, of Honesdale, PA, peacefully passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. She was born Apr. 22, 1951 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Georgine (Gaskin) and Paul Farrens. Betsy attended West High School in Madison, WI and graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. After her graduation she moved to Glen Ellen, CA where she met her future husband Don Castellano. They married in 1984, and settled in North-East PA where they raised their two daughters. Betsy is survived by a large loving family: daughters, Lindsey and Jessica Castellano; step-daughter, Kirsten (Sean) Gillies and step-grandchildren Sean and Sara Gillies; four sisters, Anne Whalen, Mary Farrens, Caroline Loniello and Sara (David) Deutsch; three brothers, George, Peter and Thomas Farrens; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Domenick Castellano, mother Georgine and step-father, Ronald Freitag. Betsy was employed as office manager of Carl J. Milks Allergy and Asthma office in Honesdale. Betsy was a faithful student and practitioner of Kadampa Buddhism at the Kadampa Meditation Center in Glen Spey, NY. A friend to all she knew, Betsy was a talented and skilled artist, an avid gardener passionate about nature. Her radiant smile and palpable compassion will live on through all who knew her. What a gift she was to this world, she lives on through her beloved daughters and countless friends, whom she treasured. There will be a celebration of Betsy's life held at her home 56 Cherokee Dr., Honesdale, PA, Saturday, December 13th, 2:00-5:00 pm. A Powa ceremony will be held at the Kadampa Meditation Center in Glen Spey, New York at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 14th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betsy's name to the Kadampa Meditation Center, 47 Sweeney Road, Glen Spey, NY 12737. 1 Attachment
