Linda J. Doney, 68, of Honesdale, Texas Township, died Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. She is survived by her husband of nearly 43 years, Donald Doney. They were married on June 17, 1972. Born November 10, 1946 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn K. Major Peters. Linda was raised in Lake Ariel and graduated from high school there before attending East Stroudsburg University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. She later earned a Master's Degree in Education from The University of Scranton. Linda was a longtime member of the Central United Methodist Church in Honesdale. She had a strong Christian faith and was very active at the Seelyville Union Sunday School. Linda was employed by the Wayne Highlands School District for nearly 30 years as a kindergarten teacher at the Stourbridge Elementary School. She is also survived by four children: Shawn Doney and his wife Rose of Hawley, Kevin Doney and his wife Lisa of Seelyville, Tonya Doney of Seelyville, and Troy Doney of New York, New York; five grandchildren: Christopher, Caitlin, Eric, Carlie and Brett Doney; a brother: David Peters of Cape Cod; nieces, nephews, and dedicated faithful friends. She was also preceded in death by a brother: Robert Peters. A private funeral was held on Wednesday at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home , 1228 Main Street Honesdale, Pa 18431 Interment was in Bethany Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that to honor Linda's memory, you may help someone in need. .
