Laceta B. Williams, 94, of Honesdale died Sunday evening, May 31, 2015 at Bethany Village. She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Junie" Williams, Jr. in 2009. Laceta was born February 24, 1921 in Honesdale, the daughter of the late Harold and Pauline (Keltz) Bates. Laceta graduated from Honesdale High School where she was a talented basketball player. After marrying Junie, she began a longtime career with the Honesdale National Bank in the bookkeeping department. Laceta was also a bookkeeper for Wayne County Livestock, and was well known there at the sale barn. She loved playing the piano and spending time with her family and friends. She had fond memories of square dancing with the Rare Squares. Laceta spent many summers at Newton Lake, and also traveled to Bradenton, Florida in the wintertime. She had a very special personality; she brightened the days of many people, and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Simons and her husband Lynn of Honesdale; three grandsons: Kevin Simons of Collegeville, PA, Curtis Simons and his wife Sarah, and Matthew Simons, all of Honesdale; two great-grandsons: Wyatt and Gage Simons; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Lavere Bates. Graveside Funeral Services will be on Friday, June 5 at 11:00 A.M. in Glen Dyberry Cemetery, Fair Avenue, Honesdale. Those attending the funeral are asked to go directly to the cemetery. Friends may visit on Thursday, June 4 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Arthur A. Bryant Funeral Home, 1228 North Main Street, Honesdale, PA 18431. Memorial contributions may be made in Laceta's memory to Dessin Animal Shelter, 138 Miller Drive, Honesdale, PA 18431.
